The General Auditing Commission(GAC) says all it employees will stage a go-slow beginning Monday, May 24, 2010 until the Government can ensure and guarantee that state security personnel will not intimidate, harass and unleash threat on GAC staff . GAC says it finds it very inconceivable why should another government entity always and at all times be under fierce attacks from government officials when the AG and the entire GAC staff continue to vigorously and heartily work to their last elastic limit from Sundays to Sundays as late as 11 pm to ensure that the systematic corruption, which is regarded by government as public enemy number one is fought to last atom of our strength until it is crushed. |

My life is in danger. Individuals introducing themselves to be security officers are in hunt of me. They continue to make threats of death, arrest and torture via mobile communications. And physically, they walked into the premises of the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to arrest me and actualize their threats made. Without any warrant, they attempted arresting me to take me away, while I was at work on Saturday, May 22, 2010 in the interest of the Government and people of this country.
To be more specific, at 5:46 p.m., May 21, 2010, I received a call from a man who introduced himself as an operative of National Security Agency (NSA) and informed me that he wanted me to report myself to NSA office and that if I failed to report myself as he requested, I would be dragged and flogged as instructed by the President's son, Fomba Sirleaf. He told me on the phone that he was authorized to met out those actions against me because, according to him, I made a statement against the mother of their boss, Fomba Sirleaf, when I said on record that the Executive Mansion and the Minister of Finance are behind the "sexual harassment" allegation made by one Ruth Yeaher against the AG intended to defame the AG and derail the staff’s mental composure to produce more audit reports for the realization of the fight against the systematic corruption deeply entrenched in our country. |

Distinguished Members of the Fourth Estate, welcome to this important press briefing intended to provide clarity and insight on what appears to be sustained volleys of antagonism against the General Auditing Commission (GAC) by the Government and its auditees. There is no need to be superfluous about these attacks; and since there will be time for questions and answers, let me say that AG Morlu and the GAC have endured too many aggressions in the last 3 years from people and groups who are clearly allergic to transparency and accountability. Each time there is an audit, Government officials take the airways of radio stations and center-spreads of newspaper to attack the Auditor General, calling him “incompetent”, “rebel”, “witch hunting”, “unprofessional”, amongst other invectives. |

INTRODUCTION Once again the General Auditing Commission is attracted, though not perturbed, by yet another diversionary tactics perpetrated by people who think that finding shield in frivolous allegations and designing scare tactics can cause Auditor General John Morlu and his able staff to succumb to the whirlwind of fraud, waste and abuse prevailing in this country. Recently reclassified Audit Trainee Ruth Bailey-Yeaher, without the fear of God and respect to womanhood, has wildly and baselessly claimed sexual harassment against her by the venerable Auditor General of Liberia, Mr. John Sembe Morlu, II. The GAC would have chosen to leave Ruth Yeaher’s claims un-responded to not only because of its sheer emptiness and nonsensicality but also because of the fact all well-meaning people acknowledge that the accused Auditor General bears rare and sterling moral qualities. But because the allegation bears the face of organized scare tactics, blackmail and terrorization of audit indictees and their protégés, which the public has seen since the birth of the Morlu-headed GAC, we find it necessary to react and expose the charade, hidden motives and shadows that have driven the false “sexual harassment” alarm made by Madam Ruth Yeaher. |

By (culled from Analyst Newspaper Wednesday, April 28, 2010) Super Auditor or Supreme Prosecutor?
Side by side with the Threshold Bill, the recent HIPC audit reports released by the General Auditing Commission (GAC), have kept the public space exceedingly charged with lamentations, denials and defenses between HIPC auditees and the Commission. All but the report on the Ministry of Finance has generated the most uproarious acrimony occasioned by Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan’s damming riposte against sessions of the audit report which hold him culpable, alone with others, for US$1.2m General Claims and a US$5m fiscal outturn negligent signing. In joining the debate, President Sirleaf declared the Minister off the hook, a position which some pundits understand to be an arrogation to herself the statuses of “Super Auditor” and/or “Supreme Prosecutor” with powers to determine who is actually guilty or innocent of GAC’s audit findings. The Analyst takes a look at the ramifications of the President’s intervention from the perspective of both critics and supporters. |
