The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) of the Republic of Liberia is one of the busiest offices not just in the General Auditing Commission (GAC) but probably so, in government agencies, bureaus, autonomous commissions, ministries and public corporations.
The engine of stewardship and success story of the OAG squarely lounges or relies on a motivational woman of substance and value, Miss Gloria Valhum, whom many GAC staff regards as a man in woman’s garment because of her bravery, courage, determination, fair and frank managerial skills and unique approaches in yielding desirable outcomes. Her fortitude and long endured working hours beyond the standard time plus a positive and controlled domineering manliness posture in her duties and responsibilities are all catalogued in the annals of her professional life and career. |

“We cannot leave the fight against transparency and accountability to the GAC. If Liberians want genuine peace and sustainable development, then all of us must partake in keeping corruption out of the public service. And for you students, the youth of this county, it is your future—not ours already in exit—that is jeopardized by corruption. We must all—students, parents, school administrators, local government and ordinary citizens—join the GAC and government to make sure that corruption is minimized if not eradicated.”

“In discussion with Deputy Auditor General for Audits, I have decided to name Decker Paye as a Most Valuable Personnel (MVP), an exemplary employee within the ranks of the GAC.”
Those were high compliments bathed and plastered on the Engagement Manager for the Ministry of Lands Mines and Energy HIPC audit, Decker Paye by the Auditor General (AG) of the Republic of Liberia, John S. Morlu. Paye, who does not have to be awarded posthumously as the adage “give a person a flower while he is living and kicking” necessitates, was seen yesterday in a mixture of shock and ecstasy when the Auditor General displayed, presented and read yesterday a copy of the AG’s extolling letter to Paye in senior staff meeting. |
