GAC Post-Audit Validation Process in Full Swing PDF Print E-mail

The General Auditing Commission (GAC) next validation workshop awareness was Friday, October 30, 2009 over the weekend at the Edifice 1st United Methodist Church in Monrovia. 

The post audit validation workshop is aimed at checking the various government ministries, agencies and public corporations to ascertain how far those entities have gone in implementing the various GAC recommendations captured in the varieties of audit reports.

GAC has thus far completed and published 25 audit reports and is at the completion point of releasing another bath of audit reports.

Public Corporations Must Not Be Let Off the National Budget -Says Nigeria Accountant General PDF Print E-mail

The Accountant General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and President of the Forum of Accountants-General and Auditors-General in West Africa (FAAGWA), Alhaji Ibrahim H. Dankwambo has stressed the imperative need for African governments to consolidate public corporations in the national budgets.

Speaking at a two -day training workshop held in Abuja, Nigeria from the 28thOctober to the 31 under the theme:”A Sound Financial Management(PFM) System as Driver Accountability for Results”, Dankwambo indicated that most of the public corporations in Africa make more money than some of those institutions that are included in the national budgets and is fiscally improper to let them off the budget.

In its bid to continuously bolster and strengthen the capacity of the staff of the General Auditing Commission (GAC), another batch of training opportunity is in full swing at the GAC.

Mr.Nii Abbey Abbey Assistant Auditor- General of the Ghana Audit Service who is on secondment to GAC as consultant is among other trainers that are providing varied trainings and audit support to the GAC.

The training being offered is Financial Audit Training .This training, according to Mr. Abbey exposes GAC personnel to both the theory and practice of financial auditing.

GAC Gives Ultimatum to Public Corporations PDF Print E-mail

The General Auditing Commission (GAC) says it has given up to October 21, 2009 to senior managements, Board of Directors and Commissioners of government institutions that are financed outside of the National Budget, principally public corporations, authorities and bureaus to provide to the GAC information proving that their budgets are approved by the President and a completed compensation sheet.
