The chairperson of the Governance Commission (GC) Dr.Amos C. Sawyer has lauded the farsighted effort of the Auditor General John S. Morlu, II for carving the idea and vision for the establishment of the National Integrity Forum (NIF). Speaking Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the launch of the Forum, Dr.Sawyer said the positive initiative taken by AG Morlu was in the right direction to garner consolidated effort from cross section of state and non-state actors in the fight against corruption. The GC chairperson expounded further that the problems of integrity and corruption is an old-aged problem that can be fought and quashed with robust and combine forces of major stakeholders via intense oneness of advocacy and demonstrable and practical action. |

The General Auditing Commission (GAC) says Auditor General Morlu has never commissioned an audit of the Ministry of Education (MOE) payroll. Instead it is an Agreed upon Procedure, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by:
· General Auditing Commission
· Ministry of Finance
· Ministry of Education
· Civil Service Agency
· USAID The MOU was signed on November 11 2009. It was therefore Payroll enumeration and verification exercise, not an Audit. |

Morlu Files US$30m Libel Suit |

The Auditor General of the Republic of Liberia, John S. Morlu, filed a 17- count US$30m damage suit against Ruth Bailey Yeaher, a suspended employee of the General Auditing Commission (GAC) who claimed “sexual harassment” against AG Morlu immediately after her suspension by the GAC and the exposure of her husband Alexander Yeaher for financial malpractices. According to the suit which was filed today in the Civil Law Court, Sixth Judicial Circuit of Montserrado County, AG Morlu says Defendant Ruth Bailey Yeaher, out of venom, malice, vengefulness, ill-will, malevolence, spite and hatred decided and set out to deliberately and intentionally malign, vilify, slander, defame, and tarnish Morlu’s good name and professional reputation by writing him a letter, in which she falsely, untruthfully, baselessly and satanically accused AG Morlu of sexual harassment. |

 Auditor General John Sembe Morlu, II Tuesday received in audience over a dozen students from the United States-based George Mason University School of Public Policy.
Accompanied by UNMIL Civil Affairs chief Ron Ottison the students and AG Morlu exchanged views over the Liberia’s recovery and development process, particularly the role of public audit in entrenching peace and stability in the post conflict nation. The Liberian Auditor General told the visiting American students that Liberia’s reform process has been cruising relatively well over seas of challenges that include heterogeneous systems of economic governance. |
